She came to the United States in 1982 to study at Otis College of Art and Design, where she received her MFA in 1987. Sangvanich taught on the faculty of Otis College until 1996.
Well-known for her distinctive style, her work can be found in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, Taipei County Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taiwan and Ichon World Ceramic Center in Korea.
Construction and the graphic arts are my main focus. I have been using geometric shapes and patterns to integrate techniques and ideas, while focusing on the simplicity of curved and straight lines, designs and colors. Being determined and preferring not to compromise encourages me to move forward, come up with new forms and find unconventional ways of working with clay.
I believe that the pursuit of impeccable craftsmanship lends integrity and honesty to my work.
The Building Blocks Series represents the combination of my skills, knowledge, experimentation, and experience from toddler to present.
