I am currently reading Change Your Brain, Change Your Life: The Breakthrough Program for Conquering Anxiety, Depression, Obsessiveness, Anger, and Impulsiveness by Daniel G. Amen, M.D. This New York Times bestseller gives the reader insight on scientific evidence that shows how one’s anxiety, depression, anger, obsessiveness, or impulsiveness could be related to how specific structures in the brain work. I find this book fascinating, and I especially enjoy how it is written in layman’s terms. I do not come from a scientific background, so to be able to understand and discover how the human brain affects our lives is very interesting.
The author, Daniel G. Amen, M.D., is a clinical neuroscientist, child and adolescent psychiatrist, and medical director of the Amen Clinic for Behavorial Medicine in Fairfield, California. He has received awards from the American Psychiatric Association, the Baltimore-D.C. Institute for Psychoanalysis, and the U.S. Army. Dr. Amen is a nationally recognized expert on the relationship between the brain and behavior and on attention deficit disorder, and is the author of several books, including Windows into the ADD Mind and Firestorms in the Brain.
If you are remotely interested in learning about the aspects of the brain that affect our lives and ways you can help heal your brain and change your life, I highly recommend this book.
